Visit from Matthew Byers - Fitness Advisor

Fitness Instructor, Matthew Byers, came to visit P3 today and talked about how to keep our bodies healthy.  He discussed about the importance of sleep, exercise and healthy eating.

He showed us some stretches to help with our posture after playing on gadgets when our neck and shoulders become tense.  This the Mountain stretch.

We spelt our name using our hips.

Matthew told us about his own training and how he uses skipping to improve his speed.
He also said how some sportsmen do ballet, yoga and pilates to help strengthen their muscles and help with balance.

Reach the feet stretch.

Muscles are like elastic bands and can become tight and twisted.  Stretching makes them stronger.

It is important to drink water and keep hydrated.  It helps with your concentration and your learning.

Matthew talked about his job and what he learnt about at school.
The most important skill he learnt was listening which he uses daily in his job.
He calls it 'Active Listening', where you have to look, listen and understand at the same time.

Before he left the children were asked to set themselves a challenge.  Challenges discussed were:

- drink more water.
-  go to bed earlier.
-  eat more vegetables.
- try a new vegetable at least 20 times.
- leave gadgets outside the bedroom door at bedtime.
-  be more active.
